Cleaning pleasure – Seamless, smooth, joint-free surface makes cleaning a pleasure.
Waterproof – thanks to the use of appropriate technology, our system is waterproof and can therefore be used in wet areas.
Why do customers choose microcement stairs?
Microcement stairs are becoming increasingly popular. No wonder – they are easy to maintain, modern and very aesthetically pleasing. Thanks to microcement, we can achieve a uniform, elegant effect on the stairs and the floor (see photos of the realisation of microcement stairs in white), which is why many clients and architects choose to cover the floor in the living room or hallway with microcement along with the stairs.
Loft style and microcement
Microcement has gained popularity with the rise of the loft style and the fashion for industrial, industrial interior finishes. Microcement perfectly replaces raw concrete and, in addition, is easier to apply, more durable, easy to clean, dust-free and does not absorb water. By using microcement, you gain complete watertightness of the wall in wet rooms. Also thanks to its high adhesive properties, you can use it directly on the ceramic tiles (without stripping them), which saves time and money! With micro-cement, you can conjure up a bathroom with a concrete wall in the shower and an industrial cabin with metal profiles and large black lamps. You can complete the look adding a free-standing stylised bath and exposed brick.
Microcement in the bathroom: walls and floor
For some time now, microcement has reigned supreme in interior design magazines as the trendiest bathroom finish. Among its advantages, apart from its stylish appearance, we may mention durability, ease of application and maintenance – there are no joints and the surface is smooth, which prevents dirt and soap residue from accumulating (in order to ensure optimum care, a dedicated microcement cleaner may be used for daily cleaning, FESTCleaner being a good example, and FESTCalc for limescale and soap residue). In addition, microcement is waterproof, so it can be used in shower enclosures and to finish linear drains. The kitchen is a heart of the home – that is where family life bustles, and where we like to feel comfortable not only when we cook but when socialise . It is the centre of entertaining and often work. That is why we put so much effort into decorating our kitchen beautifully. We want it to be stylish, unique and timeless, and at the same time functional . Recently, there has been a strong trend in the use of microcement in kitchen interior decoration. This is because it is so versatile that it works practically anywhere – on the floor, walls and as a countertop finish.
The worktop on which we prepare meals is a key element of any kitchen. It needs to be resistant to moisture, dirt, heat and cold, as well as shock and impact. Concrete worktops are not only visually appealing but also very practical. They offer the opportunity to create a perfectly smooth, durable, easy to maintain and ultra-hygienic surface. Thanks to their properties,
FESTFLOOR Life microcement and Festfloor GO! are ideal for this type of solution.
With concrete in the kitchen, we can join cool and elegant style space with warmth and cosyness – it all depends on the accessories.
Architectural concrete in the bedroom? Why not!
The bedroom is our refuge, it’s where we rest and relax after a hard day. This space should be harmonious and neat, conducive to calm and tranquillity, which is why it is so important that it is comfortable, designed according to our needs, yet pleasing to the eye and stylish.
We have written many times about the use of architectural concrete in interior decoration. Designers prefer to use it in bathrooms and in the most representative room, the living room. The idea to use concrete also in the bedroom may seem too avant-garde and the interior using concrete cold and not cosy enough. We will try to prove that this is not the case.
Microcement on a bedroom wall
Microcement works well as a wall covering. By using it, we save ourselves from painting the walls every few years and frequent removing stubborn stains. The colour does not fade or yellow and any dirt comes off with water and a mild detergent. Microcement can be used on all walls, but when our bedroom is small in size, it is safer to use it on one wall, preferably the one where the bed headboard will stand.
When choosing microcement, it is important to remember that:
- The contractor carries out the work by hand (not by machine) and the end result depends on his experience and skill, the material has a relatively short opening time, and the pattern will not be uniform over the entire surface.
- Mechanical resistance is lower than for stone or stoneware.
- Surface treatment should be carried out with pH-neutral agents and a reliable contractor should provide the client with a so-called „starter pack”.
- Due to the complex manufacturing process, the lead time is long and the unit price comparable to high-quality wood or stoneware.
- It is a decorative coating, not an industrial floor.
Alternatives to microcemenet: resin, polished concrete, or maybe wood or stoneware?
Stoneware is familiar to everyone. It conducts heat well, but is a labyrinth of dirty joints and joints that crack uncontrollably in almost every implementation. Improper impregnation will highlight all the flaws in the product, and despite its high mechanical resistance, it likes to chip. Also, without heating, it is cold.
When making a decision, in addition to price, it is worth relying on a comparison of the key features of the solutions:
- Hardness.
- Heat conduction (in the case of underfloor heating).
- Number of joints.
- Mechanical resistance.
- Pattern repeatability.
- Ease of cleaning.
- Care/claying/polishing.
It seems that there can only be one choice, but we leave the final decision to the investors!
It is important to make it consciously knowing all the features of the chosen solution.
